“Let’s add some color to it”, we say,
to a child making a picture black and white..
“See how the sunshine makes it a lovely day,
So baby, let’s paint it bright”
“The trees green, the sky blue, by a car red,
stood an old lady in pink, with hair gray,
Off she takes her bonnet, as hovers over a cloud
Pours sparkling rain silver, teasing the last of the setting sun’s ray
There an orange spotted frog leaps, as a rainbow is born
Children skipping through the puddles chase it’s other end
As in tale those hearts believe of a leprechaun
Find whom certainly they would, oh and the pot of gold”
For “colorless when black or white, was the picture”
Reminds me now the child how these hues narrated reality
Not my skin defines my colors, but my heart, my deeds, my character..
For otherwise, meaningless would be our lives, just as lifeless would be you & me.
